A beautiful castle with a lot of history. Now it hosts an amazing art collection: Rafael, Van Dyck, Guido Reni. The owner really cares about art and visitors: he was so kind as to guide me personally around the castle. A beautiful moment of my journey to Piedmont.

It is a "splendid and unmistakable" castle. The oldest part is the massive tower built around the year 1000 perhaps by the Counts of Cavaglià. The rest of the fortress dates back mainly to 1400 when the fortress was extensively rebuilt to repair the damage of many wars; from the Bicchieri, to the Visconti, to the Valperga, to the Savoy, many powerful families have fought over it over the centuries for its strategic position overlooking the lake and the Via Francigena. Well restored, it boasts elegant and refined environments not separated from rich cellars and the inevitable macabre legend of the "knight walled up alive". However, being private, it does not appear to be visited regularly. The traveler can still benefit from the great panorama and the peaceful atmosphere of what was once the refuge.

Splendid panoramic observation point on Lake Viverone. The church located next to the castle is beautiful.
